Pops and Gigi’s House

After our wonderful weekend at the lake, we drove to Pops and Gigi’s house (about 2 hours away) to spend the night with them and go to their church on Sunday morning.

Emma doing it “all by myself”:

Tommy teaching Emma how to shoot water with your hands:

Gigi wondered if Emma might be ready to sit in big church.  Pops is the pastor so I though maybe just maybe Emma would be in awe of that and be very quiet and still.  She was great throughout the Praise and Worship.  Then Pops appeared in the baptistry to baptize a young child and Emma whispered loudly, “Uh oh Pops, a shadow!”  There was a large shadow of him on the wall behind him (from the spotlight) and she was afraid that the shadow was going to get him.

She stayed for about 5 minutes of the sermon and then we had to make a quick exit.  I guess she’s not quite ready for big church.

Here is a picture of Emma sitting next to daddy before “big church” started:

Emma riding on Gigi’s scooter after church- she loved riding with Gigi!:

Baby, Baby, Baby!!!

If I haven’t mentioned it before, all 3 of the Curry kids are expecting babies within about 4 months of each other!

Robin’s sister, Crystal is 34 weeks pregnant and is due September 10, 2009 with baby boy Zane.

I’m now 23 weeks pregnant , due on November 23rd, 2009 with baby boy Foster.

Last, but not least, our sister-in-law (Robin’s brother’s wife), Fallon, is  17 weeks pregnant, due on January 6, 2010.  We’ll find out in just a few short weeks what they are having…  We could have 3 boys to get in trouble together over the years OR Emma might just have another little girl to play with.

Needless to say, Christmas is going to be VERY interesting this year and Emma is in for the shock of her life. :)  She is currently the ONLY grandchild!

Ok, so we had grand plans for a pregnant picture of the 3 pregnant sisters-in-law.  However, we kept forgetting to take the picture and before we knew it, it was time for Fallon to leave.  So this is all we got.  No makeup, no fancy clothes.   Just 3 pregnant women in lake grub.  Someday our kiddos will just love this picture!

Crystal (33 weeks), Jill (22.5 weeks), Fallon (16.5 weeks):

Curry Family Lake Trip

Every year Robin’s side of the family gets together at Possum Kingdom lake in Texas for a weekend of fun in the sun.  This was Emma’s 3rd time to attend the Curry reunion and she had a great time.  Every year there are more children added to the mix which makes things extra fun and crazy!  Next year we really need to get a picture of the whole group- there are about 30 people all together.

This picture was taken right after Pops and Gigi drove up to our cabin.  Pops immediately hopped out of the car and ran straight to Emma.  (I think he may have forgotten to say hi to Robin and me but that’s beside the point.)

He brought Emma this pinwheel and she loved it!

Emma and Fallon invented a new game where Fallon would shake and pull Emma’s arms back and forth and Emma would laugh hysterically.  No one else was allowed to play- just Fallon!: (I’ll post a video later.)

What a pose!

Emma walking back to the cabin- doesn’t she look like such a big girl?:

Emma, Robin, and Maw Maw:

We had a great time catching up with everyone and we can’t wait until next year!

Crazy sleeping!

Emma has always been a pretty wild sleeper!  Once she falls asleep, she sleeps for a long time, but getting to sleep has always been a challenge!

We recently tried to move her from her “baby room” to her “big girl room.”

Our entire first week was quite a challenge!  Mommy and daddy were quite sleep deprived that week!

The very first night that she stayed in her room the entire night we told her she could sleep ON the bed, or ON the floor but she needed to stay IN her room.

In the morning, I walked in and could not find her ANYWHERE!!!  I was scared to death.

And then I heard a very faint, muffled, “mommy?”

She was UNDER HER BED!!!

Why or how?  I’m not sure!  I think she felt safe under her bed.

This is what I saw when I walked in…. NO EMMA!

“Oh, there you are Emma!”

She is a very funny kid. :)

Braum’s Chocolate Malts

I think I’ve mentioned before that I craved Braum’s chocolate malts during my entire pregnancy with Emma.  I had at least one/week, probably more…. which may be why Emma was 8 lbs 6 ozs at birth and very very swollen and huge!

I digress… I guess it would be no surprise that Emma now LOVES chocolate malts from Braum’s!  She also enjoys the chocolate shakes from Chili’s.

On this particular day, my mom and I bribed Emma with a chocolate malt from Braum’s IF she would sit still for a few pictures at Portrait Innovations (which I will post later.)

Here is a picture of Emma receiving her “reward.”  She can drink a whole malt by herself. :)  I figure she’s getting some good calcium, right?  AND, she’s in the 7th percentile for weight so she can stand to gain a few pounds.

Visiting Pops and Gigi after Galveston

I completely forgot to post these pictures along with our beach trip blog post!

On our way back from Galveston we stopped in Arlington for one night to see Pops and Gigi.

Gigi had just had nerve surgery on her foot that same day but you can’t tell that from these pictures!

We kept having to reinforce to Emma to be VERY careful around Gigi’s hurt foot.

Beach Portraits

As I mentioned in our Vacation Post, our good friend Kathy Krey took some great pictures of our family on the beach during our last night in Galveston.  We appreciate her so much.  She is so talented and it means a lot to us to have these pictures to remember our awesome vacation and also to document our family of 3 before it becomes a family of 4!

These are in no particular order:

One maternity portrait (I feel like I look like a cow in the picture… I still have 4 months to go!!!)

Scott and Robin’s maternity portraits: (funny, funny!)

Thanks again Kathy, we love you!

Galveston Vacation

It’s been about 2 weeks since my last post because… we’ve been on vacation… yippee!!! We’ve been planning this trip for several months and we were so excited when it finally came to be! We shared a great little beach house in Galveston, TX with two of our best family friends: The Rowe’s and The Krey’s. We were friends with both of them at Baylor and have tried to see each other at least once or twice each year since graduation. We knew that a vacation with 5 small children would be no easy task but it turned out to be a ton of fun. Here are some pictures to document our trip (I’ve tried to break it down by days….but this is still a very long post…)

Thursday, July 2nd:

We left the morning of the 2nd for Allen, TX where we stayed with the Rowe’s for one night. We also made a pit stop to do some shopping in Plano- you HAVE to shop when you’re in Plano, right?

Here is Emma in the car busily working on some art. I had to include this picture because I thought it was so sweet that she chose to bring Nemo on the trip because she thought he might want to “see the ocean!”

Friday, July 3rd

“Emmy” (Emerson) and Emma ready to get in the car and hit the road to Galveston:

Emma and baby Hayden hit it off immediately- Emma was always very aware of where Hayden was and how she was doing:

Here is a picture of our beach house community (no this is not a postcard, this is a real picture that Kathy took… more to come on Kathy, the photographer!):

This was our living room: (The living room was upstairs with a bath and kitchen. 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were downstairs. Just perfect for our 3 families.)

This was our kitchen (complete with granite countertops- I don’t even have granite countertops at home!):

We all decided that we NEED this awesome kitchen table. It’s very long- long enough to accommodate 8 people with a long bench on one side and chairs on the other:

Here are the dads chillin’ on the back porch while grilling:

Here are all of the kids on the couch watching a very educational (I’m sure) show on T.V.:

Robin and Conner being goofy (they have been friends since the 4th grade in Tahoka, TX.):

Each night, one family fixed dinner for the rest of us. This night was the Krey’s turn and they fixed VERY yummy, VERY fresh Grilled Salmon Sandwiches with grilled corn and salad. Mmmmm.

Speaking of food… here is a picture of our pantry. We each brought snacks and groceries and had a bit too much food- we could have lived there for months. I won’t even post the picture of the refrigerator:

Saturday, July 4th: THE 4TH OF JULY!!!

This was our first full day in Galveston and we decided to head to the beach! To our surprise, several of the kids were scared of the ocean! The boys thought that the waves were going to eat their mommy and daddy and wouldn’t let them go near the water! Emma was also scared of the waves and preferred to play in the sand and Hayden’s baby pool. :)

Emma LOVED playing in the sand:

Putting mud on mommy’s feet:

Her first trip into the ocean- notice she’s holding her feet up so they don’t touch the water!:

Emma and daddy in the ocean- she’s still kind of scared but safe in daddy’s arms:

The Krey family: Conner, Elliott, Kathy, and Oliver:

The Curry family: Jill, Emma, and Robin

After the beach, we were all very filthy from the sand and salt water. The kids all took a bath together (we won’t post those pictures here- we’ll save those for wedding slideshows in about 20 years.)

After naps we all got ready for the 4th of July!

Here are Emmy and Emma hanging out before dinner:

This picture really cracks me up: Emmy put her arm around Emma… and Emma was just kind of ok with it:

This was the Rowe’s yummy meal: Bacon-wrapped chicken and veggie kabobs- they were terrific! Don’t they look so good?:

Sunday, July 5th:

During our 2nd full day, we decided to check out the resort pool where we were staying… and we’re so glad we did. It was awesome!

Here is Emma all set for the pool:

Lunch break:

This was our night to cook… don’t we look like chef’s? We made my mom’s famous lasagna. It turned out pretty yummy, no pic to post though:

Kathy 10

Here we are late that night playing a game we played almost every night: “Settlers of Catan.” Very fun, interactive game. Notice ALL of the kids are in bed, except for one. :):

Monday, July 6th:

We decided to head back to the pool on Monday- it was so relaxing! Unfortunately, Oliver wasn’t feeling great so he and his mommy stayed at home. We were very sad that they didn’t make it.

Here are Emma and Elliott on the stairs ready to go. Emma loved putting this stick sunscreen all over her face:

I had her pose for a couple of pictures before getting wet:IMG_0054

Here are some pictures I took with my underwater disposable camera (i.e.., not great quality!) Emma loved being thrown in the air and playing with mommy and daddy in the pool!:

After showers and naps (well, no nap for Emma) we got dressed and went OUT to eat for our last night in Galveston. Here are Emma and Oliver ready to go- so glad Oliver was feeling better!:

This is Emma in the car on the way to dinner… remember, she refused to take a nap!

After dinner we quickly headed to the beach for some sunset family pictures. Our good friend Kathy has always taken pictures as a hobby but we keep convincing her to go pro. If she did, it would be awesome for all of you Waco friends. :)

The following pictures were not taken by Kathy, they are just shots I snapped during the photo shot. I’ll save Kathy’s pictures for a post of it’s own coming next.

We had such a wonderful time on our Vacation… thank you Rowe’s and Krey’s for making it so special. We always laugh so much when we get together and make so many unforgettable memories. Love ya, mean it!

Out of Town Guests…

We’ve had a very fun week hanging out with some out of town guests!

My mom’s sister, Renee, came to visit Tulsa for a week and we had a great time hanging out with her.

Here is a picture of Renee, Nana, and Emma at Chili’s.  Emma is being silly.

On Saturday, Robin’s brother Craig and wife Fallon came to visit for a couple of days.  It was so good to see them!  Emma warmed up to Fallon pretty quickly but it took her a full 24 hours to feel comfortable being in the same room with Craig!  I’m happy to report that Emma and Craig played legos peacefully together on Craig’s last day here.

Jumping on Aunt Fallon (who is expecting a baby in January!)

Playing with Aunt Fallon’s hair…

See Emma, Craig doesn’t bite.  Here they are playing legos together!

Craig, Emma, and Fallon at the Riverwalk after eating lunch at Los Cabos:

Craig and Robin- they don’t really look much a like, do they?

The whole gang in front of the City of Faith tower:

Thanks for coming Renee, Craig, and Fallon.  We loved spending time with you all!

The “Dog” Days of Summer

A couple of weekends ago my best friend, Sarah, came to Tulsa to see her family for Father’s Day.  On Sunday afternoon we decided to take our dog Koby, and her two dogs, Lucy and Lola, to the new dog park.  The name of the dog park is “Biscuit Acres” and it is at Hunter Park.  I was SO excited when I heard about a dog park going in so close to our house.  Taking Koby to the dog park in Dallas was one of our favorite things to do.  Unfortunately, he doesn’t get much exercise these days, as you can tell from his current “figure!”

We were hoping that Koby would love to run and play, but he sat right beside our bench most of the time!  He’s so out of shape.  He loved watching the other dogs play though and so did Emma!

Robin, Emma, and Koby just hanging out:

Emma LOVES dogs and she LOVED watching them run and play:

Love this picture!:

We had a great time Sarah- bring Lucy and Lola back soon!
