I assume your comment is in reference to GitHub’s announcement that they’re moving to Rackspace and “real” servers.
I had the same reaction. Kind of a weird statement (mixed in with what seems to be a list of cons for Engine Yard rather than just pros for Rackspace).
But I suppose the GitHub guys are tackling hardware I/O problems and performance issues the vast majority of web apps (especially any of mine) will never have to face.
At least I hope so, in order to calm my own cognitive dissonance.

Maybe the issue is more about control + cost moreso than actual scalability?
